What I read in April

Any northern New Englander knows that though the rest of the world may deem April the start of spring, this is not always the case up north. When we lived in New York, I associated this time of year with sunshine, budding trees, cuter shoes, and lighter jackets. Now that we live in Maine, I’ve come to expect that April is essentially an extension of winter until the very end. Writing this from the end of the month, I can confirm that weve had a slew of sunny, delightful days that make you feel alive again and that color is slowly returning.

But the month started off gray, muddy, and a little snowy. Because the rest of the world felt like it was stretching its legs and waking up, I turned to some comforting romance reads to boost my spirits while I awaited the few more weeks it would take for us to catch up. And buoy my spirits, they did.

I DNF’ed a few romances in a row that I expected to love (perhaps more on that another day), but that meant the ones I ended up finishing were the ones I really loved.
