The Stacks Book Club - June 2026
For this month’s book club, we’re reading a beloved (and hated) classic: The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. This allegorical novel follows Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy whose quest from Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of buried treasure transforms into a life-changing journey of self-discovery. Originally published in 1988 in Portuguese, this international bestseller has been translated into 89 languages and has sold over 150 million copies worldwide—not to mention the staggering number of people who credit the book with changing their lives. We can’t wait to see why The Alchemist has had such a profound impact on readers for nearly 40 years.
